Artist's Description
My Science Vs. Religion diptych emerged from an idea to do a painting which created shapes out of nothing but written words. Originally I wanted to use only adjectives - combining negative words to depict an antagonist, and positive words to depict a hero - but this quickly changed to include many different passages in the delicate relationship that exists between Science and Religion, and further exists between the many paths of the worlds Religions. It is not a commentary on right or wrong, it is only a statement of all the players and the complex relationship that exists between them.
About Steve Park
I'm originally from Jacksonville, Florida and now call Austin, Texas home. I got here on a bit of a circuitous route that had stops in Los Angeles, South Carolina and the Marshall Islands; and careers in the film industry and fire service. I'm now a third-profession dad and family man, working from home and making art because that is what feels good. I've drawn, painted and dabbled in computer art ever since I can remember and am fascinated by simplifying images to a basic graphic level that one maybe can't quite see until they catch it out of the corner of their eye.
