I am working on a series of oil paintings in the style of Baroque painter Artemesia Gentileschi. The first, Shock and Awe, speaks of the tragedies currently being suffered by wives and mothers in the Middle East.

My work as an artist began in childhood, continued through college and early marriage. The summer before my second child was born (in August) found me bending, sweating, over 5-foot-square canvases laid out on the floor, creating boldly abstract acrylic paintings. Then life took over, and I put my paints to rest for almost 20 years. Since I have returned to painting, I have had several solo shows as well as having paintings chosen for a number of juried exhibitions. After completing a series of small, highly detailed watercolors set, jewel-like, in a much larger background that is a loose, abstracted version of the central painting, I returned to my interest in the human figure. My most recent work is a diptych, Collateral Damage. ...
