Artist's Description
This little stand is just north of Deception Pass connecting Whidbey and Fildalgo Islands. The laid back look of it adds to its charm. When my father looked at this painting he said,"Why didn't you straighten the top of the sign?" I told him, being an old carpenter, he should know that they were 2 sheets of plywood, adding to their homespun beauty. Working from light to dark I wove so much color detail into the shadows of that gold tree that I thought I'd never get out of it. It was the hardest thing to paint in the whole painting.
About Perry Woodfin
Perry studied and received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Washington State University, and has made a living with his art since 1965. His work is included in numerous collections and he holds many awards. Puget Sound raised, he lives on Whidbey Island fifty miles north of Seattle, Washington. Painting what surrounds him, he says, "I feel each piece of my art is like a word (or sentence), and when all is said and done I would hope people would say I had something interesting to say."

This is great! Your gold tree looks terrific, Perry. Someone is very happy with their new purchase.

I like how you don't "fix" the look of hand painted signs. We see too many computer graphics now and signs have lost the human touch.
Regina Coeli deWinter
Wonderfully rustic, congratulations on the sale.
