The Great Horned Owl is the largest of owls. It is nocturnal and does most of it's hunting after dark. It flies and glides silently in and near wooded areas in search of prey. It survives on rabbits, snakes, frogs, fish, dogs, and smaller owls. It's wingspan is up to 6.5 feet.
