Artist's Description
The lid is hand sewn with silk embroidery threads. The center top is wire wrapped with jewelry wire, surrounded with hand dyed burgandy ponderosa pine needles. I also used natural brown ponderosa pine needles. The box is shellaced for stability and durability. Each basket comes with a care card.

After retiring The Bartons found that they had more time to devote to the arts.Ms. Barton has served various positions with her local art league in past years Ms. Barton has explored many facets of the arts for a number of years. An opportunity came up when the local museum offered pine needle basket making from a local native american woman who came from a long line of basketmakers. One class and she was hooked. She incorporates many items in her baskets: semi precious stones, black walnut slices,glass pieces, wood centers, etc. Each finished piece can take 8 to 120 hours. As her talent in basketmaking grows she is able to add more and more intricate designs to her pieces. Mr. Barton , a relief stone sculpturer and wood carvet...
