The most beautiful day in Big Cottonwood Canyon at famous ski resort Solitude up from Salt Lake City. This is Silver Lake. I've been up this canyon douzens of times and it has never been colorful. A rare day indeed and a beautiful shot.

About Derek Nielsen

Derek Nielsen

Born in Utah raised in Arizona, Nielsen has been classically trained in studio art and illustration having studied in the US and France. After having worked as an illustrator and portrait artist he radically delved into the metaphysical abstract. Through the course of 14 years of experimentation fron 1984 to 1998 he arrived at a style of painting that incorporates nonlinear science to provoke a nonlocal endocrine response in the viewer. Because of the power of Nielsen's paintings to reveal layers of covered consciousness he is sought after by healers as well as the sophisticated art collector. Nielsen has had many shows in the west, but has also reached the eastern US with his showing in Chelsea NY and winning the Chelsea Global Award...
