Karen Cattel is a special artist and her whimsical art looks great on the two sturdy totes I purchased. One is a gift for a friend and the other is for me. I love them.

I so appreciate being able to have this old-fashioned outdoor dinner scene on a tote bag. It is adorable. Thank you for making it available.

I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

Just a few steps off the main drag in Julian California sits the historic "F.L. Blanc Rental" with this inviting porch. Unfortunately, since it is currently an active bed and breakfast, you aren't invited to have a seat and relax! The building was first constructed in 1899 and served as a rental to gold miners during the short gold rush in the area. They say the first tenants probably paid their rent in gold dust. Now this building serves as a bed and breakfast, with all the modern amenities. F. L. Blanc was the first resident preacher of Julian. This site still has the well drilled to provide running water for his mining tenants. They no longer had to carry it 2 blocks uphill from the town well on main St. His minister's pay of $50 a quarter was inadequate to raise a growing family of 8. In order to make ends meet, he used his carpenter skills on many buildings around Julian, ran a lumber mill on the North Cuyamaca mountains and had a mercantile store on Main Street.

Protected with PIXSY About Joan Carroll: I am a Fort Worth Texas-based outdoor photographer who feels at home while on the road...in Texas, in the US, around the world. Although travel and photography were dual interests from a young age, the coming of the digital camera provided undreamed of opportunities and unleashed previously untapped creativity. My photographic goal is to travel the world in a curious yet respectful way, taking the time to see and understand the unique story of each place I visit. Wherever I go I want to walk every street, hike every trail, ride the bus or metro, climb every tower, walk around and through every monument, and then do it all over again when the light changes. In every place, light, mood, color, and...
