The red in this image is so powerful. The backlighting almost brings them to life. Very well done. V

Michael Mazaika replied:

Thank you, Carolyn. This image is one of my favorites among all of the images I've been privileged to photograph at Gettysburg. - Mike

A gracious thank you to the folks from "Klumbis, Ahia" who chose to purchase a print of this image of the New York Fire Zuoaves. It is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it for a long time and that you have the opportunity walk the ground at Gettysburg as I've been privileged to do for more than 50 years. Columbus is one of my favorite cities, having worked there a number of years ago, and I look forward to some day be able to experience the Village Lights celebrationin the German Village. Be well. - Mike

Michael Mazaika replied:

Chased after this sky for 8 years, but in all that time and even longer I have never not been mesmerized by the Gettysburg battlefield, and what it means to our nation's history. Thank you, Fei, for your kind support. - Mike

I like this POV even more than the other. The extra bit lighting on the statue adds dimension to the piece. Beautiful work.

Michael Mazaika replied:

I tend to agree. Thanks, Daniel, for your encouragement. - MIke

About Michael Mazaika

Michael Mazaika

I am a seat-of-the-pants photographer: with not the best of equipment but not the worst either; possessing good timing but no stranger to poor; with camera gear in tow and at other times without; witness to incredible light and often not so; there at the right moment and frequently just a few minutes too late. Maybe a lot like you. I am a lover of history and of our country; privileged to have seen a few other lands and their people; grateful for the sight that I have been given on loan; blessed by the scenes before me and the vision to see what they may look like at another hour and in another season.
