Very pleased with the image, color, printing . My selection of printing onto wood is great for this image. There are a few mildly dark lines which are natural to wood. They show through the image and contribute to the image--glad that none of these was over the face of the horse rider.

I’ve enjoyed art in one form or another since I was old enough to pick up a crayon and scribble on a wall. As early as third grade, I began blending colors and using shade to create form. Balancing marriage, motherhood and a full time career, there was only time enough to dabble in the fine arts. My 43 years as a sign artist afforded me a daily outlet for creativity. Now that I’m retired, I want to direct my creativity towards watercolor. It’s been a real challenge for me to break away from the very technical art form of sign making but the fluidity of the watercolor medium is helping me to do that. Thanks, Kate. YUPO is a synthetic paper, which is actually a thin plastic, that allows the paint to float on top & not be absorbed which results in more vibrant color. YUPO has a mind of it's own & the it's fun to see how the paint runs & mingles. Paint is easily lifted from the surface & the best part about YUPO is that if one isn't pleased with the result of the painting, just wash it off & start over. But once a paintng is finished, it's a good thing to seal it with a couple sprays of clear mat acrylic. Before a painting is started, the YUPO needs to be cleaned with alcohol in order to remove any residue or fingerprints which will act as a resist if left on. Give YUPO a try sometime just for fun. The results, however, will be much different than traditional watercolor paper. My "One Can't, But Toucan" was also done on YUPO.

Hi Marsha, I love this painting! The techniques are amazing! I have never heard of Yupo before. Is it a special kind of paper? Kate
