This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

Artist's Description
A pair of Ruby Throated hummingbirds are stopping to feed on the flowers of a Nopales cactus. The so called "Spineless Prickly Pear", Nopale, or "Tuna" cactus is the one preferred for making Mexican cuisine - Nopalitos - due to it's lack of thorns. (they still have thorns, but they are very small). The flowers are small and look like a flower that just never quite opens, and hummingbirds like to feed on them. I have several of these cactus and they grow quite tall (12') and almost as wide, and grow rapidly here in South Texas.
This is a small 6"x9" drawing (image is 5"x7") and is watercolor pencil with pen and ink on 140 lb. bond.

About Sue Bonnar
Drawing and painting animals has always been my favorite choice in art and have been drawing since I was old enough to pick up a crayon. Art is part of what I do, not just something to do. I hold a degree in Commercial Art, worked in graphic and commercial art for several years, and studied Studio Art at the University of California, Riverside. My favorite subjects are animals, especially wild animals and birds. I have recently completed several hummingbird works and have been lucky enough to have my work selected for the Rockport-Fulton Hummer Bird Festival T-Shirt Art contest for 2014 and 2015. More recently my work titled "Catch of the Day" was selected for the 2016 Port Aransas Whooping Crane Festival T-Shirt art. I also enjoy...
