"Stanley Simmons, 1976" watercolor, signed l/l, 15" x 11" sight, 24" x 19.5" frame. About the Painting: Excellent condition; original frame. About the Artist: Born in Springfield (Feb 24, 1908) moved to Boston and attended Boston Latin School and studied at the Boston Museum School of Art, The Fogg Museum at Harvard and L'Ecole des Beaux Artes. He also studied law at Northeastern University. Davidson was an artist who worked in murals, watercolors and sculpture. He exhibited his works in New York galleries, the Berkshire Museum, the Worchester Museum, Amherst College and others. He was apponted a member of the Massachusetts Art Commission by Gov. John Volpe in 1961. During his tenure, Mr. Davidson was responsible for collecting and displaying all the portraits of former governors at the State House. Davidson lectured in New England and wrote several articles on art and art appreciation.. During World War II, he was a sergeant assigned as a reporter for the Stars and Stripes Army...
