Artist's Description

A larger, more powerful version of one of my favorite subjects, an old farm building and winter tree bathed in the afternoon sunlight just before a winter storm. This painting was juried into the March 2008 San Diego Watercolor Society Gallery show.

Ally Benbrook

Ally Benbrook spent her childhood outdoors riding horses, playing with dogs, and hiking; she never once picked up a paintbrush. Adulthood was spent running her family business, raising a daughter, and competing in equine events; again, no paintbrush in sight. Although her mother, grandmother, and aunts were very accomplished artists, Ally never felt the urge to paint until well past her fiftieth birthday. An artist’s life is all about exploring new ways of expressing thoughts and emotions. The “paint what you love” philosophy for Ally has resulted in a multitude of animal-related pieces, and now has evolved into her Last Connection series.
