A Veiled Chameleon (Chamaeleo calyptratus) strolling along a branch. These arboreal lizards are native to the greener areas of the Arabian Peninula from Saudi Arabia to Yemen. As well as having binocular vision, chameleons can move their eyes independently. While they do eat leaves and blossoms, their preference is insects which they catch on their sticky tongues which they can quickly thrust out to catch their prey. They have the ability to change color and the color change often signifies their emotional state, but when at rest it can serve as a camouflage by blending in with their surroundings.
While photography has always been a passion, my painting adventure began after visiting a wildlife art exhibition in Melbourne, Australia. Exploring ways to create colorful contemporary images featuring animals, flowers and other elements of nature was a new venture for me. Now I am studying the exciting creation of digital paintings. Having graduated from Melbourne University with a BA(Hons) specialising in international relations, I am interested in portraying the world's exotic species. My aim is to capture their unique personalities and hope they will inspire you to learn more about wildlife and conservation. Images Copyright 2024 Margaret Saheed. All Rights Reserved.
