I love to sit on the porch in the summertime as the sun begins to go down- especially on those rare days when its a bit cooler with a breeze...I can see twelve o' clock knob mountain as it becomes a symphony of pink and purple....when we're having company I always try to spruce it up and put some special flowers like these out there because everyone loves to sit in the rockers and swing as we talk after supper.

I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors.
