As a child I grew up on a river. No, it wasnt the Petaluma River it was the Cheboygan River. It wasnt in California but in Northern Michigan. As a child I didnt really learn to appreciate the beauty of a sunrise or how the light danced on the river.
As I have grown older and the days seem to go by much faster than they used to I have learned to appreciate the finer nuances of the sunrise.
Because I work at my day job early in the morning I am now awake and normally on my way to work during the sunrise. During the summer I leave the house as the sun is rising and drive out of the western edge of the Sacramento Valley towards the San Francisco Bay Area. During the spring and fall I see the sunrise most often as I am pulling into the parking lot for the company I work for. That company is on a river. No, not the Petaluma River but the Sacramento River not to far from where the Sacramento River spills into the San Pablo Bay.

I love getting out shooting the outstanding scenery that this area has to offer. I may be in Yosemite one weekend and the Napa wine country the next.
