Supersonic plane concept testing. Technician preparing a scale model of Boeing's supersonic advanced concept aircraft to be tested in a supersonic wind tunnel. This concept proposes using two engines mounted on top of the wings, instead of the usual position below the wings. The design is one of a number being investigated in partnership with NASA as a means to lower the noise impact of sonic booms in commercial supersonic aircraft.
