"Tear Down These Walls" is a representation of how various youth live around the world and how many children have a plethora of toys and material objects and some have nothing and do manual labor instead of going to school. The awareness and inspiration of this topic came when I was 13 years old and was on my first trip outside the United States. I went to Venezuela and saw poverty for the first time. I went to a school there and saw overcrowded classrooms, no air-conditioners, weeds growing em-between the floor tiles, students sharing a handful of books. With that social awareness that never faded, five years later at 19 years old I painted "Tear Down These Walls". Another painting "Glimmer of Hope" was painted in conjunction with "Tear Down These Walls".
