Platinum-shadowed electron micrograph (freeze-fracture TEM) of rabbit reticulocyte polyribosomes active in hemoglobin synthesis. Reticulocytes are immature red blood cells. Polyribosomes are clusters of ribosomes, which are complexes of RNA and protein that are found in all cells.
