This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

Artist's Description
This was one of my early paintings and actually the third acrylic I had done when I first started painting. I painted this based on a photograph taken of my Army Reserve Band marching in the parade in the Magic Kingdom on the Army's birthday in 2005. It was one of the most exciting and patriotic moments of my army career. The band has since been designated the 208th Army Band under the 81st RSC. The colors are more muted than my current work as my art teacher said I was "afraid of color" back then and I now understand as I see my early paintings to be calm and dull while my newest work is in bold exciting colors.
About Julia Robinson
I've been an artist since the time I could hold a crayon and draw on my parent's walls. My first love was animation, particularly cartoons and comic book characters. I would sit in class and write stories and then draw cartoon characters to illustrate the action on each page. My teachers were not fond of my lack of enthusiasm towards the subjects they were teaching. My history teacher in high school caught me drawing something and stated that art class was down the hall. For a moment I acted as if I was going to stand but then smiled and sat back down. I had the highest GPA in the class even without paying attention and he knew it. I also have a passion for music and I majored in music education in college. I'm currently a clarient...
