Artist's Description

This is a colorization of a James Wharton sketch. I tried a new process with Adobe Illustrator for this image. I spent a shorter time on this, although I am disappointed I cannot bring out of this process larger sizes. I've put into my economy set. I will give this a go another time and do the longer process for the Classic collection. Jame's training was that of a steam engineer. I believe before coming to Canada he had worked in mills. I have been trying to figure out the third initial for quite a long time. I am wondering if it is JW5 with 5 being for Jame's school grade when he completed this art. It seems like a process a school might do for submission of work assignments. The mill was an important necessity for Canadian settlers. I cannot imagine a wind deficit had ever been experienced in England. In Manitoba where James settled, there had been wind mills, but few water mills. The year before James arrived, settlers in the area almost starved because while they were able to grow...
