This photo was taken as the great 2004 World Champion Racing Quarter Horse named “Be A Bono” was getting ready to enter the Kentucky Horse Park's Hall of Champions where an excited crowd of fans, including this photographer was waiting to meet him. When I captured this image, I couldn't help but wonder what Bono was thinking. Knee trouble sadly forced Bono's retirement from racing in 2007, and in 2009 he became one of the great ambassadors for his breed. Still a proud Champion, it was an honor to be in the presence of such a beautiful animal.

About the Artist...Deborah Fay developed her love of photography through nature. Born in Cincinnati Ohio, most of her life was spent living along the California coast. Trips to see the Great Giant Sequoias, the breathtaking Redwood Forests and backpacking as a teenager in the High Sierras fueled her passion for nature and love of wildlife. A tree hugger long before it was cool; she decided to follow her love of nature and capture the beauty she sees in photos to share with others. Although most of her works feature Mother Nature, once in a while she will go off the beaten path and film something unexpected.
