Congratulations on your sale!

Congrats on your sale!!!!!

Congrats on your sale and thanks for sharing such a detailed narrative to go along with the image. The story is priceless, as is your memory I am sure. Wonderful piece - adding to my favorites!

This is one of the most amazing images I've seen on Fine Art America or anywhere else. I wish I had known Mr. Bronson.

Bryan Allen replied:

Very kind words Carl, thanks s much. If you like hearing stories, you'd have loved Mr Bronson. Each story was more fantastic than the last and when they began sounding like tall tales, I'd call him out on one, sure I had him. But he'd say hang on and trundle off to some corner of the house and come back with a photo or a prototype or a document. I offered to write a biography of him but he wouldn't hear of it.

Stunning -- wonderful Bryan --creative, special! L/F

Bryan Allen replied:

Thanks Bill! And thanks also for the L/F.

Absolutely terrific! Congrats on your sale! L/F

Bryan Allen replied:

Thanks so very much Joy!

Fan freaking tastic!

Bryan Allen replied:

Thanks David! Being a guy who likes maps and having just driven through Indiana, I had to look up Shipshewana. As I sat in NJ working on this image, I was imagining a place probably a lot like your town.

This image really caught my imagination! Love the story behind it as well! Great tribute and outstanding work!

Bryan Allen replied:

Thank you for the kind words Fran!

Artist's Description

Much of the magic of this image for me is the people in it and my history with them. As a kid growing up on a quiet suburban street in the late 60's, I knew most of the neighbors and the man in the foreground, Mr. Bronson, was a one. My friends and I thought of him as a bit of a wizard. He had all this unusual electrical equipment in his house, had several patents, and talked of strange secret projects he had worked on in the past, some military, some not. He could build a keyboard organ from just boxes of parts with no plans. He had spent time as a photographer back when 8x10 cameras were the norm. He was able to grind his own lenses from blanks of glass and even built 6 leaf irises from thin sheets of metal. Of extra interest to the neighborhood kids was a massive stereo system he built all from parts wired to dozens of large speakers juiced with enough wattage to rattle your teeth out and make your scalp tingle. Ironically, my very first introduction to him was when I threw a snowba...
