Mike - this is an incredible painting, all the way down to each and every tiny detail. The composition is exceptional, as are the bold colors. Very awe-inspiring image as well as your masterful skill. Certainly a f/v for me.

Many thanks Peri for one of the best comments ever!

EXCEPTIONAL! The amount of detain in this work is phenomenal! I feel as though, if I leaned in and stared at it long enough, I'd smell the smoke and wet ash, and hear the squelching of the boots. I am very impressed! Then ... after this, reading your description ... Awed, is the more appropriate word!

Many thanks Rick for featuring my artwork in your group, my younger brother used to be a fireman at Camels Head station in Plymouth back in the seventies whereas I too was a fireman but of a different kind in the late fifties.

Artist's Description

THIS PAINTING IS SOLD BUT YOU TOO CAN COMMISSION MIKE TO PAINT YOUR VERY OWN ORIGINAL OF YOUR FAVOURITE HISTORICAL SUBJECT, A SOUND INVESTMENT FROM WHOM MANY REGARD AS BRITAIN'S LEADING TRANSPORT ARTIST. JUST E-MAIL This is an image of a large painting, 6ft x 4ft,I did some years ago for the Pantechnicon restaurant in Motcombe Street, Belgravia in the record time of a fortnight. I worked 16 to 18 hours a day in my tiny one bedroom flat that I lived in at the time to meet the deadline for the opening night and had to hire a van to deliver it from Brixham in Devon to London as it was too big for my car! The sheer size of the painting, tight deadline and amount of research involved made this one of the most demanding works I've ever done and I wasn't exactly a young man in 2008! The painting depicts the scene when the fire began to take hold, the Pantechnicon was a huge furniture and valuables warehouse with a Greco-Roman facade which survived and still exis...

About Mike Jeffries

Mike Jeffries

COMMISSION A PAINTING FROM MIKE. Virtually nobody considered the humble lorry worthy of the subject of a painting until Mike made it so. Years of being at the sharp end of long distance HGV driving has given him an insight and knowledge into the industry that enables Mike to depict lorries as they really were in the past and not the idealized view of the less knowledgeable making him the man to paint an original of your favourite commercial vehicle. He is without a doubt THE lorry artist. Mike’s first-hand knowledge of buses as a PSV driver for over forty years gives this area of his work a stamp of authenticity and knowledge of the industry so consequently his depictions of buses and coaches have set a standard that others follow....
