Each year for a small fee the Government would assign a wood lot in a certain area where the trees you could cut down for firewood were marked. The first couple of years it was fun but we soon realized the rough trail, the wear and tear on the truck, the hours spent in the cold, the gas the chainsaw, it was cheaper and easier to buy a cord of wood already split.
