You have really captured this dog!!! His intent to please his owner!!! Great!!! Love the movement of the water!!! Nice palette!

Submerged objects showing through the reflected sky on the surface of a duck pond combines representational painting skills with abstraction. Add a big black nose, sparkling eyes, and cold water splashing on the furry brow of a bird dog portrayed with meticulously fine brushwork that shimmers with the exuberance of a Labrador Retriever and, voila - a masterwork!

Bravo! I think I'd like to pet this dog, even if he is all wet! Great animal depiction, love his eyes, they say 'concentrate on the decoy, dog, concentrate!

Artist's Description

This is my brother-in-law's yellow lab. He was working with him early one morning in late summer, getting the lab ready for the upcoming hunting season. The 'duck' in the painting is an actual decoy or training dummy used to train the dog in retrieving. No ducks were harmed in the making of this painting...!

After the basics, he began working in pastels, then moved into oils. Though oils are his favorite medium, he enjoys graphite, pen and ink, and watercolor as well. In college, he majored in Commercial Art with a heavy emphasis in Studio Art,...
