Artist's Description
Trichophyton fungus, coloured environmental scanning electron micrograph (ESEM). The thread-like structures (green) are hyphae, the vegetative part of the fungus. This is the fungus Trichophyton rubrum, a filamentous dermatophyte fungus, responsible for fungal conditions of the skin, hair and nails.
