Trio is inspired bu the moody landscapes of Egon Schiele, an Early 20th Century Austrian painter, roughly Contemporary of Klimt. While he is more famous for his figures, I have always admired the mood and color subtleties in his landscape paintings.
I sought to create an homage rather than copying his style. Several ideas are an homage to Schiele. The color scheme, mood, level of abstraction and trees in silhouette all draw inspiration from his work. However the change of media, from his acrylic painting to my marker and pen work, completely changes how the colors and imagery work. My homage is more open and panoramic and also more finely detailed than his highly textured and intimate paintings.
