The artist is my son and is very talented. In high school he was accepted by Chicago Art Institute but couldn’t afford the tuition. He graduated from Fredonia State University with a Fine Art degree.
Maple syrup is a syrup usually made from the xylem sap of sugar maple, red maple, or black maple trees, although it can also be made from other maple species such as the bigleaf maple. In cold climates, these trees store starch in their trunks and roots before the winter; the starch is then converted to sugar that rises in the sap in the spring. Maple trees can be tapped by boring holes into their trunks and collecting the exuded sap. The sap is processed by heating to evaporate much of the water, leaving the concentrated syrup.
Maple syrup was first collected and used by aboriginal people of North America. The practice was adopted by European settlers, who gradually improved production methods. Technological improvements in the 1970s further refined syrup processing. The Canadian province of Quebec is by far the largest producer, responsible for about three-quarters of the world's output; Canada exports more than C$145 million (approximately US$141 million) worth of maple syr...

Beautiful painting, Carole!

Carole, this is departure from your Montreal cityscapes--and a very successful painting as well. This is an iconic picture and tells a story for those who know the appeal of Maple Syrup which has a taste all its own. I note the containers on the trees waiting for the syrup. This is an iconic painting and quite different from your colourful and vivid street scenes. Your colours are lovely. Anyone buying a print from you would find it hard to choose as they are spoilt for choice. ..Val.

Lovely warmth coming from this painting Carole. Almost like night has passed, and the early glow of sun is just starting to fill the forest at the dawn of a new day. Those little renders of blue reminding us that a chill is still in the air.... You really captured something great with this painting!
