Artist's Description
Pay no attention to that phony Leer Tower signage. This is the Thomas Jefferson Hotel of Birmingham, Alabama, built in 1929. I decided to make this the 6th in my #Bham52 as construction finally began last week after numerous false starts over the years. The former 350-room hotel will be converted into condominiums and retail space over the coming year. As one of my absolute favorite buildings in Birmingham, I am thrilled to see its progress in 2015. (P.S. Please, please, please restore the zeppelin mooring mast - the last of its kind anywhere in the world.)
