What a wonderful interpretation, David. You certainly realized your vision and I'm sure Thoreau would have been very pleased.

Artist's Description

I wanted to create something that I thought would honor one of my favorite authors, Henry David Thoreau. "Walden Pond" contains Thoreau's poem "Great God" as well as a picture referrence to the place Thoreau called home while he wrote "Walden". In the book Thoreau describes the fog and mist as it clears away one morning, He likens scene to spirits rising off of the pond. This was the thought behind embedding an image of the house Thoreau builtin the reflection of the pond. Thoreau also spent some time describing the blue color of the pond which was highly desireable in the ice markets during his time. I wanted the water to be a unique color and stand out in the image. The image employs a technique I've been developing which uses fractal patterns for their unique shape and color. Overlaying the patterns and adding texture creates a visually engaging and fresh result.
