A piece of history. I saw this at a local country museum here in Virginia. I was stumped for days trying to figure out what it was. My first thought was, it may be a woman's attire worn back in the old days to preserve their virginity? Man was I wrong. It turns out to be a 1920-1930 vintage industrial bull blinder, designed and patented by Henry Masbruch, for the Russell MFG. Co, Platteville WI. The blinder was used to control and or prevent animals, particularly bulls, from charging persons or other animals. What look like breast plates are eye plates that permit the animal to look downward only for which there are slits along the bottom. It is also known by some as the "Brunhilde" in which I found one description on the internet which states; A mighty female warrior, one of the Valkyries, and a heroine from the German epics, especially in the Nibelungen saga, in which she is a Icelandic princess.
