I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

I'll never forget I painted this in January when the street was undergoing construction. I went down to take reference photos of the buildings on the street. I remember seeing construction tape everywhere, there was dirty snow lining the empty street on both sides. The structure of the buildings was really the only useful element from the photos I was able to take, even the lighting left a lot to be desired. It was a bleak day, cloudy and pretty colorless. When it came to actually doing the painting, I was trying to think of my favorite time to go to a Sox game- 7:05. It seems like such a perfect time of day in the summertime- still sunny but starting to cool off and I love the way all those elements of red look in that lowering sun.
Christine Da Silva grew up in rural Massachusetts. She received a BFA degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts & Tufts University in 2008. Her paintings of Boston scenery and other landscapes are bright, detailed, and often have high contrast throughout. Lively color creates energy in even the most serene landscape. The viewer's eye remains active throughout the paintings, and a heightened familiarity is what brings peace and rest to the eye.
