The Yellow-Footed Gull (Larus livens) is a large gull similar to Western and Glaucus-winged gulls, measuring about 27 inches in length and about 2.8 pounds in weight. The adult gull has an unstreaked white head, dark gray back, white underside, bright yellow legs, bright yellow bill with a red spot, and yellow eyes with a yellow orbital ring. Most of these gulls are native to the Gulf of California in Mexico, and some non-breeding birds migrate to the Salton Sea in California. They feed on small fish, invertebrates, and sometimes on refuse at waste dumps.

This Yellow-Footed Gull standing on rocks along the shore was photographed in the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge, Calipatria, California, on 11-3-2016. I used a Nikon D810 camera body and a Nikon 500mm f/4 vr2 lens to capture this image.
