A zebra stands in tall brown grass on an African plain and looks off in to the distance at an approaching storm. Lightning flashes as a wave of dark menacing clouds rolls across the sky. As the tempest devours the blue sky, torrential rains envelop the trees at the edge of the grassland.

While I've created quite a bit of horse art, this is my first artwork to feature a zebra. I made this work in the spring of 2014 on a day when we were expecting severe thunderstorms. The weather that day gave me the idea to create a scene featuring an ominous looking storm approaching. I tried a variety of animals in the scene, but the black and white stripes of the zebra seemed to work best in the scene.
