Daniela Casparis (1935-2022) was born in Riga, Latvia as daughter of pianists. In 1939 the family fled from communist takeover and was resettled in German-occupied Poland. When the Reich collapsed in 1945 they escaped to Germany where she spent her post-war childhood in Bavaria and Switzerland. in 1955 Casparis came to Arizona and found her true home in the rugged beauty of the desert.
