-In the spring of 2010 after teaching art at the public high school level for 33 years I decided to retire. Prior to retiring I only had the time to paint during the summer vacations. Now I can paint year-round.
Over the years I've had some degree of success in a variety of media including watercolors, printmaking, drawing & oil paints. However, 21 years ago I took a summer class in acrylic painting and feel that I've found the perfect medium for myself.
I graduated from Edinboro State College, Edinboro, PA in 1975 where I received a B.S. degree in Art Education. I have taken painting classes for the past 20 summers at the Art League (Torpedo Factory) in Alexandria, VA taught by professional artists.
My body of work includes 4 watercolors, 3 oil paintings and over 30 acrylics. The acrylics include still-lifes as well as scenic landscapes from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia & the New England states.
As a painter I consider myself a colorist and in the past 21 years I have omitted black from my color palette when painting landscapes as many of the Impressionist painters had done. The majority of my paintings are landscapes because of my love of the hypnotic tranquil effect that a beautiful outdoor scene has upon me. For the most part, my goal when painting a landscape is to produce a world where “the sun is always out”. Until now I have refrained from showing my art and selling it---instead I’ve built up an inventory of artwork which consists of over 40 pieces. I am now launching my debut as a professional artist.
