I grew up in New York City and developed a serious interest in photography while serving in Vietnam where I purchased my first 35mm camera (Pentax). After returning to civilian life, and while working a 9 to 5 job, I took classes in the evening at the New York Institute of Photography. On weekends I roamed the streets of New York photographing the city. At night, I would set up a dark room, to develop black and white prints, working out of the kitchen of my apartment.
