I am a gardener and photographer living in Grimsby in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula, amongst vineyards and orchards. My working life was spent in the corporate world of business design and information management. Photography became a full-time endeavour ten years ago.
I am drawn to abstract shapes and patterns. I look for something new to discover in the ordinary. I consider myself an opportunistic photographer. Exploration, discovery and surprise are part of the photographic process for me, and spontaneity is a key aspect of the experience.
Much of my work involves flowers and gardens. I find the compositional beauty of gardens, plants and nature to be breath-taking and I never tire of it. Within the last few years, I have become attracted to discovery in the urban environment. I create abstract images in the scratches, bumps, and bruises in the environment. Peeling paint, rust and decay seem to blossom just like the natural world.
I want my photographs and digital art to accomplish something for you - to help you see in ways you haven’t seen before, to engage you in experiences you haven’t had, and to help you access a sense of wonder. The last one is the most important one - to share with you the wonder of the visual world around us.
