I was introduced to photography when I was a child. My father gave me an old box camera, that shot black and white roll film. I loved it!
It seemed I always had a camera, but until young adulthood I hadn't really bothered to learn much about it. I bought my first film SLR in the 1970's and began to learn. I learned how it worked, and about the effect of different choices and settings. I also learned about composition, light and contrast, and more. I was well and truly hooked.
As I explored and continued to learn, I became more proficient with the camera, but I also loved the effects that could be created - both in the camera, by choice of settings, and in the darkroom. That translated beautifully to the digital world, where all the knowledge and experience with the camera blossomed even more, but also in the 'digital darkroom' as the power to manipulate an image increased.
My objective with each image is to render a scene as I saw it in my mind's eye. Sometimes that even resembles the way it appears to the human eye.
