I was asked how I start with and finish a sculpture using wood,,, It may seem strange but the reclaimed wood I use has so much character, I might start carving a totem of some type and at times it progresses so fast, I end up with a War Dog or a bird. I will start to carve a Mayan / Aztec statue and the ending result will be a turtle. Most of the time I am able to stay on task, depending on the wood. The painting of the sculpture, is also completely variable. Some of the wood looks perfect unpainted, not stained, But with some wild paint colors you transform the whole piece...more
