Hi, I'm Michael Browne, a freelance author/illustrator , originally from the Isle of Wight, near Portsmouth on the south coast of England. I travelled a lot with my parents around the world at an early age, which was certainly a formative experience. Before going to art school, I worked for two years at a boatyard, building and repairing wooden boats. This experience gave me a lot of background in boat construction skills which was useful later when drawing ships and maritime subjects.
