Retired from teaching, Alberto has placed his focus on expressing himself through his passion for art. He is currently featuring his color pencil works from Ocean City, Maryland, and Seven Springs Mountain Resort. His recent trips to the beach and slopes have sparked a wealth of new and unique situational portraits. He is also available for custom work in color pencils by commission. During his teaching career he taught high school and college classes in robotics, engineering, drafting, art and technical writing. He also taught college level courses for educators seeking to achieve education's highest certification: National Board Certification.

National Board Certification is the highest nationally recognized certificate that an educator can achieve. Alberto is currently the only educator in the state of Pennsylvania to achieve National Board Certification in engineering and also holds 4 other degrees.

He also received an international gold medal in Casablanca Morocco for his art and created custom pieces for the King, Queen and Prince of Morocco.

In his long-standing relationship with NASA, he trained at the University of Alabama Space and Rocket Center and as a U.S. Aerospace Ambassador was in line for a mission to the MIR Space Station until that mission was scrubbed due to the changing political climate with Russia. He was a recipient of the NEWMAST Award - NASA's highest civilian honor. He was the Guest Speaker for the Pre-Launch Conference at Kennedy Space Center for the Hubble Repair Mission. He worked with WQED and PBS on the award winning 9-part series Space Age narrated by Patrick Stewart and appeared in the accompanying video series. He worked with NASA on the Mars Settlement Project and in the Space Seeds programs. He helped to design 2 Getaway Special science experiments for the Space Shuttle. He represented NASA as a consultant to the Carnegie Science Center advisory board and participated in the groundbreaking ceremonies as well as hosted the American/Russian Chautauqua Conferences for NASA held at the University of Pittsburgh that same year.

He is a recipient of 7 Distinguished Achievement Awards, 3 Governors Energy Awards, the National RENEW America Award (which was received on Capitol Hill from Christopher Reeve AKA Superman), named a Teacher of Excellence by the Teacher Excellence Foundation, named a Teacher of Distinction by the Technology Excellence Foundation, a winner of the Thanks to Teachers Award sponsored by Apple Computers, and KDKA TV, and won the National Energy Education Development award. Alberto was acknowledged by a three-page article and photograph in Teacher Magazine for his innovative techniques and has been nominated for Disney's Teacher of the Year, Radio Shack's Teacher Excellence award, and Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year.

In 2013 Alberto was inducted into McKeesport School District's Hall of Fame which included a photo and plaque in the main foyer of his high school.

Alberto holds a degree in art from Edinboro University and has used his artistic abilities throughout his career. Now retired, he has devoted all of his time to his passion for art. Enjoy!
