Born in Paris in 1953, Anne Kolin first became interested in contemporary art while living in Amsterdam in the mid- 1980s. A frequent visitor to the Stedelijk Museum, she was particularly inspired by the work of Fautrier, Tapies, and Karel Appel. On her return to Paris, she obtained a Masters Degree in plastic arts at the Sorbonne, where her work explored both the figurative and the disfigured.
