I have always been fascinated by the human eyes and the depth of the human soul visible through a person's eyes has become a recurring theme in a major series of my work. I envision my artwork in my mind's eye and what evolves -- what my soul envisions -- my hands translate to the canvas. To me, my artwork is a method of interpersonal communication with another human being and humanity in general.
I am a native New Englander and I am married to a man with deep roots in the Great Smokey Mountains; we have two beautiful children. Much of the inspiration for my artwork is drawn from the experiences of our family, from the viewpoint of me-the Mother!
Predominately, I work in traditional oil paints, but also sell original graphite/charcoal and photography. My traditional oil on linen portraits feature the subject's face--up close and personal. For portraits, I only work in traditional oil on linen and I do paint 'Portraits from Photos,' which realistically take between 60 to 90 days to complete due to the slow drying time. I am a traditional impressionistic artist, painting in the style of the 'Old Dutch Masters.' Prices start at $500 for a 16x20 handstretched linen portrait. If you interested in discussing a traditional oil portrait, and for examples of my portrait work and references, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org .
