Inspired by nature and authentic spirituality, the art of Barbara Ann McConoughey, combines patterns and color combinations that appeal to both ancient rhythms and modern sensibilities. Her artistic process began as a child with her observations of nature and cultural adaptations. She continues to draw on these inspirations as well as being influenced by spiritual and mythical themes. Her art is characterized by detailed patterns, vibrant colors, and bold compositions.

Born in the small farming town of Fremont Ohio, Barbara's childhood was shaped by her parent's bohemian lifestyle. Frequent moves, including living abroad in Brazil, made a lifetime impression on her world view and sense of artistic expression. Having studied Art in school, Barbara continued her life long pursuit of education through various classes, books, tutorials, and self exploration, raising her children to embrace their own unique creative expression.

Barbara Ann McConoughey has worked in a variety of mediums over the years, including oils, acrylics, fiber arts, and illustration. Her current work is primarily watercolor and pigment inks on recycled archival papers and Bristol.

Barbara and her husband, Lee Paul McConoughey, Photographer/Illustrator, are living creatively and exploring the wonders of nature.

Barbara McConoughey joined Fine Art America on November 13th, 2015.
