ARTIST STATEMENT

Bonnie Lanzillotta is an impressionistic painter whose work reflects a deep spiritual awareness and connection with nature, especially the ocean. The spiritual dimension of her work is completely intertwined with the artistic self-expression that also comes through strongly. Passion is the bond that unifies these two aspects of her art, which in the end are really one in the same.

Bonnie was selected to receive an Award of Excellence in the Manhattan Arts International online Exhibition, Celebrate The Healing Power of ART 2014. The exhibition was curated by Lilly Wei, a New York based art critic, writer and independent curator. Bonnie has also been featured in many juried shows such as, ART TAKES TIMES SQUARE 2012 in NYC, and Mass. General's Illumination art program. Bonnie grew up on Cape Cod and still lives by the water, in Massachusetts. The basis for her strong connection with the sea is obvious. On the level of immediate sensory pleasure, she revels in being out in nature, soaking up the alluring mesh of colors, energy, light, and textures.

'When I'm painting it's a very intuitive and spontaneous process. I enjoy the excitement of pouring fluid paint onto the canvas and using a palette knife to create a composition that the viewer can travel through, to discover new worlds for themselves.'

Bonnie’s work is influenced by the freedom Picasso took with figures and the movement of Impressionists, like Monet. Like all revolutionary artists, They established a new way of doing art and a new way of seeing the world—both of which Bonnie Lanzillotta has embraced.

Bonnie's work is set up into series that are adaptable to many environments and uses. Her work from the Peaceful Dreaming Series has been installed in healing environments such as a Massage Studio where many have been soothed by it's flowing colors. The painting, Purusha, from the Healing Planet Series was used on a CD cover by New York artist, Kirsten DeHaan.
