The Capitol Art Society was organized in 1965 with 20 members, making it the oldest visual art organization in Austin, Texas. Membership is limited to professional artists whos work has been accepted by a jurying process. Artists in the group are not limited to type of medium, size or subject of work and once accepted into CAS they are encouraged to show actively in the many venues around Austin.
