Rojo Chispas, aka, Jim Sparks was inspired by the Vincent Van Gogh biographical movie, Lust for Life in 1959 while stationed with the army in La Rochelle, France. After his discharge he lived and painted in the Haight Asbury neighborhood of San Francisco during the sixties eventually applying at the San Francisco Academy of Art and Lone Mountain College with an intended Art Therapy major in1968-69.
