Cynthia (Cindy) J. Hitchcock earned a BA in fine arts with emphases in drawing and painting, and a MS in biology, focusing on amphibian decline. Cindy was formerly a graphic designer for companies including Pepsi Cola and Lenox China. Switching careers to become a biologist, she now works for the US Geological Survey.
Many of her works are commissioned by fellow biologists who want an accurate rendering of their study organism. One of her paintings was featured on the cover of the scientific journal 'Copeia (recently renamed Ichthyology & Herpetology).' Another painting was used as part of a collage in an installation piece for a train station in Denver, Colorado. Two additional works have been published in the journal of Herpetological Review, for in the featured artist section.
Added recently to this collection are some mixed media bird species created by her daughter Olivia Espinoza (age 16)! I am proud to feature her creations as a budding new artist. Olivia is mainly self-taught and has a natural talent for drawing animals.
Cindy Hitchcock joined Fine Art America on January 2nd, 2011.
