Bob Gersztyn began seriously taking photographs in 1970, after he received his first 35mm camera from his then girlfriend, now wife, Kathy, for Christmas. After moving from his home in Detroit, Michigan, to Los Angeles, California, in 1971, he began to photograph what became known as the Jesus movement, and its resulting music, while studying photography at Pasadena City college.
